SVÅRIGHETSGRAD 3/5
This replica of a German night fighter from World War II was developed, based on the convincing experience with "Skyraider", to be powered by two 400 motors with gears, fed by a 10-cell battery with a capacity of 1.7 Ah. The Panasonic SP and EX cells allow us to expect an increase in flight time of around 8 minutes by a further 1-2 minutes. In terms of flying, this model is a treat - beautiful, fast, manoeuvrable and yet uncritical to fly. Experienced model builders who like to experiment can increase the performance of the model by using 12 cells - see 'Suitable drives'.
With a wingspan of 1400 mm, the two large engine nacelles and the double fin, the wing was designed to be removable. With the ABS parts (cowling, fuselage-wing transition, engine-nacelle-wing) great value was placed on fitting accuracy. The transparent cockpit canopy bears the marking lines of the metal frame of the original machine. The fiberglass fuselage and the engine nacelles, which are also made of fiberglass, are extremely lightweight.
The wing and tail are balsa, with many precisely machined positions. Paper is provided as the covering – if only because of the camouflage painting. The landing gear was deliberately omitted, since the additional weight and, above all, the high air resistance would have a negative effect on the flight characteristics. With a static thrust of over 1 kg (depending on the drive) hand starts are no problem. The battery can be changed via the removable canopy.
